I feel like ass.

That's the best way to describe what's going on in my general karmic vicinity right now. I'd write more - as there's more to write about - but I just came off working two shifts, and I'm dog tired. Two shifts - that's working, and then working some more. As an engineer, that means that I do some boring shit in Pasadena, and then I drive 30 miles to do more boring shit in El Segundo. Only that second half is even worse, because I'm completely alone and can't even make any coffee.

During a stronger moment, I'd be likely to say that the work I do isn't really as bad as I make it sound. But let's face it, I'm an engineer, and as a species we have a very strong historical love-hate relationship with our entire existence. What the hell am I doing? I need to get a real job; I mean, come on. I should be a writer, or a photographer, or a delicatessen worker, or something.

For now, though, it's back to work. I'm going to prepare a lesson plan, go to the office, do more work, return home, and pass out.

What the $#@! is going on, anyway?

I haven't posted in a really long time. What's up with that? I mean, it's not like there's nothing going on; in fact, things are happening. Oh yes, things are happening. Truth be told, of course, many of these things are happening to other people, but that doesn't change the fact that they've happened, and they're noteworthy, and I'm very happy for them happening.

But that's not why I'm writing. See, it doesn't matter whether things happen or not; anyone who blogs, anyone who writes, should know this as a cardinal rule. You have no idea who I am, what I do, or where I live - okay, you do, but that's beside the point, and you know who you are - but most importantly, there's no objective proof that anything I say here matters. At all.

Ah, the beauty of subjective reality. And so, that is why I write, because I should despite the fact that there's nothing to say - because the truth will come out, right? - and because I can write, when I want to; because have plans for this, this obsession with words; and not least of all because I'm currently working two shifts while starting a new term of teaching tomorrow and I need something to distract me from more important work at hand.

Yeah. Like I have the time. But I owe it to an old friend, and I owe it to myself. And anyone else who cares to read it.
